Jawa has finally arrived in Nepal, yes, the iconic Czech motorcycle brand which was resurrected by Mahindra Group's subsidiary Classic legends in India last year will now be available in Nepal through Agni MotoInc - a subsidiary of Agni group. The company will initially be launching its Jawa and Jawa Forty-Two models in the country to appeal to retro bike enthusiasts in Nepal. Both the Jawa and Jawa Forty-Two will be offered in two ABS variants – Single-Channel and Dual-Channel. While the Jawa Forty-Two is priced at Rs 6,20,000 for the single-channel ABS variant and Rs 6,48,000 for the dual-channel ABS, the Jawa is priced at Rs 6,48,500 and Rs 6,76,500 respectively.
Both motorcycles are powered by the same BS6-compliant, 293cc cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder, 4-stroke, DOHC engine that makes 27 bhp and 28 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a 6-speed transmission. While the Jawa harks back to the nostalgic 50s design with its classic curves and polished chrome, the Jawa Forty-Two calls for a sportier riding stance with its offset speedometer, matte finish, and black handlebars.
The classic Jawa has all the necessary pedigree that makes it look retro. Features include rounded headlights, dual-tone chrome finish on fuel tanks, twin exhausts, flat saddle. wire-spoked wheels and a round instrument cluster. It will be available in 3 colour options (Black, Maroon, Grey).
The Jawa has gas-charged twin shock absorbers at the rear and telescopic forks in the front. Braking is via a front disc brake and drum brake at the rear. Single-channel ABS is standard while dual-channel ABS is available as an option. Kerb weight stands at 170kg and fuel tank capacity is 14 litres.
The Jawa Forty-Two, on the other hand, gets a flatter set of handlebars for a sportier riding stance. It also gets blacked-out front forks and an offset instrument console. It will be available in 6 colour options (Hally’s Teal, Galactic Green, Starlight Blue, Lumos Lime, Nebula Blue and Comet Red).
Jawa Motorcycles will be available in dealerships located at Uttardhoka and Teku locations in Kathmandu, and the network will gradually expand across the country. The motorcycles will be brought into Nepal through the Completely Built Units (CBU) route. With the planned outlets becoming fully operational in the near future, customers across major cities like Kathmandu, Pokhara, Itahari, Dharan, Narayanghat, Lahan, Nepalgunj, and Butwal will be able to book and test ride the Jawa and Jawa 42 motorcycles in their own cities.
The two motorcycles rival the likes of the Royal Enfield Classic, Benelli Leoncino 250, and Italjet Buccaneer 250 in the Nepalese market.
